Traveling to the Virgin Islands during a full moon, can add some extra fun and excitement to your already wonderful vacation if you are staying on St. Thomas.
The full moon has always attracted and lured people with its aura of mystery, glory, power and energy. All kinds of rituals and celebrations are held during full moon around the world.
Here in the Virgin Islands we get rid of our pent up preshaah by limin on da’ beach with friends at full moon, enjoying a bucket of Voodoo Juice, an Iggies favorite, while listening to the soothing sounds of the Caribbean Sea.
Iggies Beach Bar & Grill throws a Full Moon Bonfire Beach Party each month, usually the Friday closest to the actual full moon, (check with the restaurant) and locals and visitors meet up on the beach for a fun night to celebrate.
The fun include a floating bonfire lighting up the Caribbean, fire breathing by Stretch, live band in the sand, Mocko Jumbie (stilt dancer) welcoming everyone and keeping the evil spirits away.
Of course drink specials are offered on Jello Shots, Beer Buckets, and Cruzan Rum. Cheers!
According to Wikipedia full moons are traditionally associated with temporal insomnia, insanity (hence the terms lunacy and lunatic) and various “magical phenomena”.
So if you happen to be on St. Thomas, suffering from insomnia, feeling your inner lunatic calling, and looking for a magical evening…. stop by Iggies Beach Bar & Grill to Howl at the Moon each month at their Full Moon Party.
August Full Moon party falls on the 19th. Happy Hour 4-6pm. Music by Lourdes and the Switch.
Iggies Beach Bar & Grill is located on Bolongo Beach and part of Bolongo Bay Beach Resort
