Come Celebrate the USVI’s Centennial with Bolongo Bay

Bolongo Bay invites you to join the U.S. Virgin Islands Centennial Celebration this month with $300 in spending credits from USVI Tourism, which you can use to book a catamaran cruise on the resort’s catamaran, Heavenly Days, or enjoy other cultural tours and activities. Visitors who travel to the islands in March also will receive a unique souvenir — a commemorative coin in honor of the Centennial.

Nearly every country in Europe had a flag planted somewhere in the Caribbean at some point, even chilly Denmark (because Vikings need some beach time, too), which claimed control over St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix between 1672 and 1733. Danish rule over the islands didn’t end until 1917, when the United States purchased the islands for $25 million in gold coins.

Ever since, March 31 has been celebrated in the U.S. Virgin Islands as Transfer Day, and this year’s Centennial Celebration party on St. Thomas will be marked by a big parade in Charlotte Amalie, a performance by the Copenhagen Brass Ensemble, a formal ball, and art, dance, and food events.

To book the deal, go to the U.S. Virgin Islands Tourism website (http://www.visitusvi.com) and use booking code CP17. The $300 spending credit is good on trips booked between now and Oct. 1, 2017, for travel between now and Dec. 31, 2017. A three-night minimum stay is required, but between the beach, Iggies Beach Bar, the Centennial and the resort’s wealth of activities, you’ll probably want to stay even longer!
